Thank you

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who purchased a stunning artwork from our Barn Art Aid Fundraiser and of course THANK YOU to the artists who generously donated work to Barn Art Aid.

We’re delighted to share that through sales from Barn Art Aid we have raised over £7,500!

This is a wonderful boost to our finances during these very challenging times in the arts sector. 2024 is a critical year in our charity’s 30-year history and we continue to focus on generating more income through our main programme of events, on more fundraising events and on funding applications and we remain positive that the Barn will get through these difficult times.

What is
Barn Art Aid?

Barn Art Aid is where art meets philanthropy.  A concept dedicated to supporting our charity through the power of creativity.

Barn Art Aid is a showcase of stunning artworks, each generously donated for sale, by the talented artists and makers in our creative community.

Every person who buys a piece, doesn’t just acquire a beautiful artwork but also contributes directly to our cause, making a tangible difference to the survival of the Barn.

We are doing all we can to survive in these very difficult times and on top of all our applications for funding, we are working hard to supplement our finances.

We believe that art and culture improve lives and that everyone should be able to access the arts.  We hope our communities realise the benefits of having the Barn in Banchory and that they continue to support us in our time of need.

Maria has always had a fascination for old things, whether it is process, tradition, material or pattern. Aspects of nostalgia and romanticism quite often inform my creative aesthetic.

Her process usually starts with a sense of curiosity and a desire to make. It is about imagining new possibilities for materials or communicating an expression or feeling. She works with wax, metals and materials finding ways to create bespoke objects and jewellery.

The essence of slow making and mindfulness are integral to her creative spirit – not only does she gain a sense of grounding and pleasure from ideating and making – She aspires to imbue each finished object with a bit of the joy she feels while creating.

Maria’s studio is based at Deemouth Artistic Studios, Aberdeen where all her work is created. She also teaches adhoc workshops through Gray’s School of Art and at Deemouth.
